Because at the end of the day…

  • you shouldn’t have to choose between a homecooked meal and your sanity
  • healthy food should be tasty
  • face it, you’re in charge of the cleaning too
  • snacks don’t have to be bad for you
  • mama needs a drink

Two Forked Mamas

In early 2010 Amanda and Megan met via Twitter. Soon after, they met in person, and they felt an instant bond. After an absinthe-induced evening of chatter, Two Forked Mamas was born. Was it the green fairy or our combined passion for feeding our kids wholesome, local foods that can be prepared in a snap? The world may never know…

Who are Two Forked Mamas?

AmandaAmanda

Amanda is a full time pastry mama and superhero. Always looking into the history of food, she has tried to create meals for her family that go back to her ancestral roots. Knowing her farmers and where her family’s food comes from is her number one priority. Her views shine in her family business, (when she’s not arm-deep in pastries) about her relationship with Texas local farmers. Amanda was recently selected as a judges’ favorite in the Austin Bacon Takedown recipe contest, as voted by Addie Broyles of the Austin American-Statesman and Emily Fleischaker of Bon Appetit magazine. Amanda recently appeared in a segment on FOX 7 News and KEYE Austin News to promote her snack cake business, Retro Bizzaro, making her face instantly recognizable to thousands across Austin and giving her the nickname “Snack Cake Lady”.

Now though you can find her in San Antonio working as a Social Media Marketer and tracing back her hometown roots.

When not researching her latest canning recipe or pulling weeds from the garden, Megan can be found at the farmers’ markets or hunched over a stack of cookbooks to do meal planning. (Oh yeah, and she works full time as a copyeditor, too.) Her interest in cooking began at a young age, when she would cut out recipes from the coupon circulars. Mom to one curious toddler, she is now more focused than ever in changing her family’s eating habits. Megan’s food photography has been featured on The Kitchn (Apartment Therapy), SlashFood, TasteSpotting, and FoodGawker. She has also been part of the Foodbuzz Featured Publisher 24, 24, 24 project in December 2009, March 2010, and April 2010. Megan blogs about her foodie journey and more on www.stetted.com.
